Before diving into today’s topic (speaking of diving), I’m thrilled to share that my daily sea swimming streak continues – an impressive (even if I say so myself 😇) 19 consecutive days of braving the Irish waters!
First, a quick update on our house purchase. The parcel of land to the side and behind the garden that was included in our sale is currently in probate.
While this means further delays, I’m surprisingly relaxed about it.
Our rented farmhouse has become such a comfortable home that the prospect of staying longer doesn’t faze me – though the extra costs aren’t exactly welcome!
The Two-Week Studio Setup
What was meant to be “Tech Talk Tuesday” has evolved into “Thoughtful Thursday” – and there’s a story behind that delay.
I’ve finally gotten my office/studio to a stage where I can appear professional on video calls. And yes, it took me nearly two weeks to set it up!
ADHD, Procrastination, and Superpowers
For those of us with ADHD, procrastination isn’t just putting things off – it’s our kryptonite, capable of temporarily blocking our superpowers. And yes, I firmly believe ADHD is a superpower, regardless of what others might say.
If you’re an adult struggling with ADHD and finding it hard to believe it’s a superpower, I can highly recommend contacting:
Linda Fox, an ADHD Life Coach.
Her guidance has been invaluable in my journey.
The Importance of Looking Professional
Looking professional on video calls isn’t about vanity – it’s about authority and effective communication.
When you want people to truly listen to your message, your visual and audio presentation matters significantly.
In my experience, Zoom stands head and shoulders above other videoconferencing platforms for quality and features. (Just the thought of troubleshooting Microsoft Teams on Windows sends shivers down my spine – and that’s not just because I’m a Mac user! 😱)

Hi Kenn,
like you, my swimming streak continues, so I’d like to think that your continued efforts will keep me motivated!
Doctors orders kind of forced me into taking up swimming, something I’d not done in for fifteen odd years, I have an issue with my lower back which has caused me a bit of aggro!
I started at the end of July at my local pool but did not enjoy it. Someone suggested I use the outdoor fifty metre pool at Brockwell Park, not far from Brixton. I gave it a shot and really enjoyed being outdoors taking in the elements!
At that time, sun was shining, skies were blue. I ventured out twice a week Mondays and Thursday. The weather changed… overcast, grey, sometimes rainy and getting colder! The pool is not heated, the water temperature was 11.3 degrees on Monday, the coldest it’s been so far. And it’s getting colder in Blighty! How low will I go? 🤣
What’s the sea temperature at yours? I’m hoping that reading your blogs and watching your videos will keep me motivated, they are most definitely inspiring!
Good luck with your ventures, say hi to Helen too.
Robbie.
Hi Robbie!
I’m thrilled you’ve followed the journey from Instagram to the blog – it means a lot to have family along for the ride!
I’m so sorry to hear about your lower back issues. But what a brilliant way to turn a doctor’s orders into a positive new habit!
The transition from indoor to outdoor swimming is quite something, isn’t it?
I was never a pool swimmer myself – I much prefer the sea as the salt water makes me more buoyant!
My “sea dips” are more about quick immersion than actual swimming though 😊
The sea temperature here in Bannow stays fairly constant around 12°C, but this morning’s air temperature was a teeth-chattering -5°C with the wind chill! 🥶
Your 11.3°C at Brockwell shows real commitment – and it’s only getting colder!
Helen is back in the UK for a few days and she sent me a video this morning of it snowing in London while I sent one back showing our bright sunny morning here in Bannow 🌞
I’ll be sharing more sea dip updates on Instagram and the blog, so hopefully they’ll help keep you motivated as the temperatures drop.
Keep going – there’s something magical about embracing the cold, isn’t there?
Looking forward to seeing your swimming updates too!
Best wishes,
Kenn
