Braving the Breeze: A Thrilling October Dip at Bannow Beach

Today’s entry in Our Eco Journey takes us back to the invigorating shores of Bannow Beach. On this brisk morning, I found myself once again drawn to the sea, eager for a quick dip to kickstart my day.

The Weather 🌬️

  • Temperature: 12°C (54°F)
  • Wind: Up to 25 mph gusts
  • Feels like: 9°C (48°F)

The calendar may say autumn, but the weather had other ideas. The sun shone brightly in a clear sky, bringing the temperature to a mild 12°C. However, the real star of the show today was the wind. Gusting up to 25 mph, it made the air feel closer to 9°C, adding an extra layer of excitement to my morning adventure.

The Sea 🌊

As I approached the shoreline, I was greeted by a spectacular sight. The high tide, combined with the strong winds, had whipped the sea into a frenzy.

Waves crashed against the beach with impressive force, their white crests reaching high before breaking on the shore.

The usually calm Bannow Beach had transformed into a surfer’s paradise.

The Dip 🏄🏾

Standing there, watching the waves roll in one after another, a thought crossed my mind – perhaps it’s time to invest in a surfboard!

The conditions were so perfect that I could almost imagine myself riding those waves, though my sea dipping skills might need some serious upgrading before I attempt that feat.

Despite the intimidating waves, I was determined to have my morning dip. Cautiously, I made my way into the water, feeling the push and pull of the tide with each step.

The moment the cold water hit my skin, I felt a rush of adrenaline. The combination of the chilly sea, the warm sun on my face, and the wind at my back created an exhilarating sensory experience.

Reflections 🤔

These morning dips, especially in such dynamic conditions, serve as a powerful reminder of nature’s ever-changing moods. They highlight the importance of:

  1. Respecting the sea
  2. Understanding its patterns
  3. Appreciating its power

As I left the beach, with the sound of crashing waves still ringing in my ears, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude for this beautiful coastline we’re working to preserve, for the invigorating experiences it offers, and for the constant reminders it provides of our connection to the natural world.

Who knows? Maybe next time you read about my Bannow Beach adventures, I’ll be writing about my first attempts at surfing.😁

Until then, I’ll continue to enjoy these brisk dips, each one a small but significant step in Our Eco Journey. 🌊🌿
