Tonight was one of those magical moments when nature puts on a show that leaves you speechless.
The sky over Bannow came alive with the colours of the Aurora Borealis, painting shades of red, green, and pink across the night sky.
It was a sight I will never forget, and I’m excited to share it with you.
A Surreal Sky Over Bannow
The evening began like any other, with no hint of the spectacle that was about to unfold.
Then at 9 pm, Linda Fox, my ADHD life coach, gave me the heads up that the Aurora might be visible tonight, and I’m so grateful for her tip.
Linda had texted me a copy of the AuroraWatch UK alert she received on her phone.
It was a red alert, indicating that the aurora would likely be visible. That extra nudge made all the difference, and I’m so thankful she reached out.
But as night fell, a faint glow appeared on the horizon, and it quickly grew into an incredible display of shimmering colours. The aurora seemed to dance across the sky, with streaks of vibrant pinks and greens shifting and waving, almost as if they were alive.
This was the first time I’ve seen the Aurora Borealis here in Bannow, and it felt like witnessing something otherworldly. The normally calm night sky was transformed into an ethereal canvas, and I couldn’t help but stand in awe, trying to take in every second of the breathtaking view.
Capturing the Moment
Of course, I had my iPhone with me, set to Night mode, and I’m so glad I did. Capturing the aurora was a challenge, but the results were worth it.
The photos don’t quite do justice to the experience, but they offer a glimpse into just how spectacular the night was. The vivid pinks and greens were unlike anything I’d ever seen, and being able to document this rare event made it even more special.
In the images, you can see the silhouette of the Bannow landscape beneath the aurora’s glow—a reminder of how small we are compared to the vastness of the universe. The stillness of the land contrasted beautifully with the dynamic energy of the lights above.
An Unexpected Gift
What made tonight even more amazing was the spontaneity of it all. The aurora wasn’t something we planned for or expected—it was simply a gift from nature. It’s moments like these that remind us of the beauty and unpredictability of the world we live in.
Seeing the Aurora Borealis here in Bannow was more than just a visual spectacle; it was a reminder to slow down, look up, and appreciate the wonders that surround us.
Sometimes, the best experiences happen when we least expect them, and tonight was certainly one of those times.
Sharing the Magic
I hope these photos capture at least a little bit of the magic that filled the Bannow sky tonight.
If you’ve ever been lucky enough to witness the aurora, you know just how awe-inspiring it can be.
And if you haven’t yet, I hope you get the chance one day—because moments like these are truly unforgettable.
